Join Our Team: – Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: West London / Salary: Competive (Depending on Experience) / Full Time, Permanent
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team focused on the delivery of high-end residential and listed building projects. This is a full-time, office-based role, with periodic site visits required. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Operations, providing day-to-day commercial support across multiple live projects, from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
- Support procurement, including issuing tender packages, analysing subcontractor quotes, and preparing subcontractor orders.
- Carry out accurate measurement and valuation of works on-site and from drawings.
- Monitor and manage variations, change control, and assist in agreeing final accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of interim applications and payment notices.
- Liaise with internal project managers, site teams, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Attend and contribute to regular commercial and project meetings.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and legal obligations (including JCT contracts and CDM requirements).
- Provide administrative and commercial support to assist in the smooth running of live projects, including procurement and tendering of materials with suppliers.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline (or working towards).
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the high-end residential or heritage sector.
- Strong working knowledge of standard forms of contract, especially JCT.
- Highly organised with good attention to detail and time management.
- Strong numeracy and IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel and cost tracking software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative when required.
Essential
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to occasional site visits).
- Must be comfortable working full-time from the head office, with flexibility for site travel as needed.
