Victorian House Renovation – Wimbledon Village

Substantial extension and renovation of a six-bedroom Victorian home in picturesque Wimbledon Village, London. Our focus was creating an exquisite, design-led space whilst honouring the property’s architectural heritage.
Involved from the beginning, the Signature Build team provided a complete custom Build and Design solution. After discussing our client’s vision, we appointed a suitable architect, structural engineer, M&E consultant, and interior designer, who in partnership with our own in-house construction specialists, took this dream build from concept to completion.
Custom-Designed Luxury Loft Conversion
Securing more space for our client’s growing family was a priority. The structure and symmetry of this handsome Victorian home made it ideal for expansion, both upward and outward. During the first phase, we designed and built a large Mansard loft conversion. The loft extension opened up an entire new storey, comprising a luxurious double bedroom, en suite bathroom, and swathes of stylish storage.
Contemporary Glazed Kitchen Extension
After stripping the walls back to the original brickwork, our team set about creating a fresh, light-filled interior. The heart of the home, the kitchen, was expanded with a large, glazed extension. Full-length windows and a roof lantern flood the space with natural light and offer magnificent views of the garden.
The shaker kitchen cabinets, handcrafted by our joiners, lend themselves perfectly to the period setting. Authentic and simple, the handleless cupboards and marble splashback keep the look calm and uncluttered.
Statement Entrance
The transformation also involved renovating the family bathroom, study, and hallway. To create a statement entrance, the sweeping Victorian staircase – complete with curved handrail and volute newel cap – was fully restored, alongside the traditional wall panelling.
Although an older property, our clients were keen to have the latest home technology at their fingertips. Working with M&E specialists, we maximised comfort and efficiency by installing new plumbing and electrics, intelligent lighting, and state-of-the-art AV integration – enabling the family to watch or listen to what they like, where they like.
